Ever get confused on how we score games that we review. Ever wonder what those numbers or categories mean? Well to help you we have written up a little guide to help you out.

When we review games we break them down into five different categories that outline the basic concepts to the game's structure.

Gameplay
This is the basic framework of the game. Basically its how fun it is to play the game. Whether its too easy or too hard and what you do in the game. This is considered one of the most important aspect of the game.

Graphics
How the game looks whether or not its appealing and the more technical aspects like animation, texture and quality.

Sound
How the game sounds, like the sound effects, voice acting and music of the game that adds an extra dimension to the overall experience.

Control

The outlines what controls you use for the game. Basically what does what and whether or not the controls are easy to use and how responsive they are.

Replay Value
This category is to see how much you would play a game before you get tired of it. It also rates the multiplayer aspects of the game and anything else that would enhance the game experience beyond the core experience which is usually the single player features.

Ever get confused over the scores? What the difference between a 7 and a 8? All the categories are rated on a 10 point scale, with 0 being the lowest and 10 being the highest.

10.0
Basically the best there is. Even here on NG only a few games have received the prestigious honor of getting a perfect score.

9.0 - 9.9
A near perfect game that is worth picking up. Any game that can get this score is what we call a AAA game. With only a few minor flaws, but nothing bad enough to hinder any gameplay.

8.0 - 8.9
If a game can get a score in this range its still good, obviously not as good as a 9.0 but good enough to be a good game.

7.0 - 7.9
A game with these scores is still a good game, but it does have some big flaws. These flaws are usually what make a difference between a good game and a game that scores in this range.

6.0 - 6.9
Definitely a rent before you buy type a game, games in this range while may not be totally bad, they're not very good either. Big flaws and other problems can hinder gameplay and the overall experience.

5.0 - 5.9
Barely a passing grade, might not want to waist time with this game. Only if you're a fan of the particular series or genre will want to try these games.

0.0 - 4.9
Don't go near these games. If a game gets a score in this range, its not worth your attention. Avoid these games at all costs.

And remember that the overall score is not an average of the scores in each category. This score represents the overall gameplay experience.
